Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy
A MENTORING PROGRAM FOR GIRLS AGES 11-14
The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy (Delta Academy) is a national initiative that serves girls age 11-14. The Delta Academy provides educational and enrichment activities to girls at a crucial time in their development. A primary goal of the Delta Academy program is to prepare young girls for full participation as leaders in the 21stCentury. The program focuses on self-esteem, community service, educational achievement, leadership development, and physical & psychological well-being. Session topics include, but are not limited to:
- Self- Awareness
- Healthy Body Image
- Nutrition and Fitness
- Career Exploration
- Community Action
- Leadership Development

We are now accepting new applications for the 2019-2020 program year. All interested participants must complete the Delta Academy participant application using the following link:
Please review the meeting schedule and expectations:
- Delta Academy meetings will be held on the second or third Saturday of each month, from 9am until noon. The program calendar begins on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
- Participants are expected to attend the “Welcome Event” on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:30 to 8pm. We will send the location information once confirmed. A parent must attend with the participant and bring all required forms, completed and signed.
- Attendance policy will be strictly enforced. Any participant having two or more absences will be asked to leave the program. The facilitators will use their judgement to decide if an absence is excused.
