For more than 53 years, the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter (IAC) has been awarding scholarships to deserving young
African American women in their senior year of high school, residing in Indianapolis, Kokomo, and Lafayette. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic achievement, character, community services activities, extra-curricular activities, and financial need. Additionally, as an incentive for active members of the chapter to further their education, IAC also offers scholarships to current year financial members of the chapter.
During 2019-2020, The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter will award high school scholarships of at least $500.00 to each candidate chosen. The criteria is as follows:
∆ The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter will award scholarships (Fortitude Award and Pearl Award) of at least $500 to $2,500 each to candidates chosen. Scholarships will be awarded based upon academic achievement, character, community services activities, extracurricular activities, and financial need.
∆ Scholarships will be awarded during the first semester of the candidate’s freshman year; and only after receiving documented proof of enrollment in the second semester of a four (4) year accredited academic college/university. Scholarship awards will be forfeited if proof of enrollment is not received by the established deadline of the committee.
∆ Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to African American female high school seniors residing in the following areas: Indianapolis, Kokomo, Zionsville, Avon, Brownsburg, Carmel, Greenwood, Fishers, Plainfield, Lafayette, and West Lafayette.
∆ All Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale system or equivalent.
